Giving Artfully: Give to a Davis Non-Profit Tuesday

Give Local Tuesday is part of a nationwide movement to add meaning to the holidays. The Davis Art Center and many other worthy local non-profits are participating.

Give Local Tuesday is a part of a nationwide movement to make the Tuesday after Thanksgiving a national celebration of generosity and chairtable giving. So, give what you can on Tuesday, November 27th!

As a non-profit worker at the Davis Art Center, I love the idea of galvanizing charitable giving through out the region. I hope that it will raise awareness about the wonderful services that non-profit organizations provide to our community.  I feel pretty darn lucky to live in a community that has organizations like the Davis Art Center, Davis Farm to Schools, Yolo SPCA among others. These organizations are the lifeblood of people who have given themselves and their careers to causes that make life better.

My workplace, the Davis Art Center, is a really special place that offers people of all ages a means for creative expression. I have given myself, the Art Center staff and the Davis community a challenge for Give Local Tuesday. I want to raise $1000 on Tuesday that will go toward the creation of a lounge space, making the Art Center more inviting and inspiring for our community.

I will be raising money for the Davis Art Center on Give Local Tuesday, but I am glad to be a small part of a larger movement to spread generosity. I hope Give Local Tuesday encourages people to give some thought to all of the worthy local organizations that need support. I personally plan to give small donations to five different organizations on Tuesday. I hope that I can encourage 50 people to give $20 to the Art Center on Tuesday to make our goal.

There will be fun prizes and lots of Facebook Fistbumps for those who want to contribute to this creative cornerstone of Davis. You can give to the Art Center through the Donate Online button on davisartcenter.org and you can find out Give Local Tuesday at givelocalnow.org.

Hi Katie. If somebody is interested in the kittens, who do they contact? I'll share this if you addRead More that information, either in the article or in these comments. Thanks!

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
