LAST CHANCE: Sign Up for the 4th of July Softball Tournament

The tournament will go from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fourth of July. All teams are guaranteed two games.

NOTE: I spoke with the City of Davis today, and the person in charnge of softball is not in the office for the rest of the week. Your best bet might be to show up and try to join a short-handed team on the day of. (Sign-ups happen on a team-basis, not an individual player basis).

The softball tournament will last from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fourth of July. Sign ups will be taken at the City of Davis office through June 28. Download the Tournament Flyer for more information.

For more information, call 530-747-5876. You can also contact Lori Conrad at (530) 753-7731 or lconrad@cityofdavis.org if you have questions.

ALSO: I (Justin Cox) am interested in joining a team. If you have an extra spot, please call me at 530-262-8183 or email at justin.cox@patch.com. I could outfit an entire team in cool Patch shirts (only if people want that) as well as provide metal water bottles! The shirts look like this. (I would pay to join, of course).

At first I thought, "What now? First the IRS is investigating the Tea Party and now the OddRead More Fellows and Soroptimist?" But then, after reading the article I realize that these are pretty serious allegations if proven to be true. I'm curious what specific "foster youth" organizations have benefitted from all of this fundraising. "Foster youth" is a pretty generic phrase and could refer to any number of organizations. With all of the non-profits I have worked with, the specific charity benefitting from their work was very clearly identified (and their 501c status was never in question).
