City of Davis Veterans Memorial Center

The stated goal of the Davis Post 6949 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars is to "Honor the dead by helping the living." This facility hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, including the annual staging of The Davis Children's Nutcracker, Cardozorama (UC Davis Law School's student talent show), Acme Theatre productions, Davis Is Burning, musical concerts and dance recitals. The center features a 325-seat theater complete with a green room, state-of-the-art lighting, a concession booth and a box office, as well as a large multi-purpose room and a fully equipped industrial-size kitchen. A stone plaque in front of the building lists Davis's deceased war heroes.
