Amenities in the main park area of Mace Ranch Community Park include children's play structures, baseball diamonds, soccer fields and a basketball court. The picnic pavilion features barbecue grills and water faucets. Joggers and walkers enjoy doing their thing along lengthy paved paths winding among shrubbery and trees. Several venerable valley oaks were preserved and now stand within protective railings.

A portion of the park is a wildlife preserve protecting burrowing owls. When the grass gets too long in this part of the park, it is not mowed. Instead, sheep and goats are brought in from a small farm in Dixon to graze the grass down to size. This way the burrowing owls are not disturbed. This innovative program operates without cost; the sheep and goats eat for free, keep the park presentable and the city government saves a lot of money on labor costs.
