Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science

<p>The Robert Mondavi Institute brings together the Viticulture (the cultivation or culture of grapes) and Enology (a science that deals with wine and wine making) Departments at UC Davis, both of which are recognized as the best in the world in their areas of scholarship.</p> <p>The result is a renowned educational center that is home to some of the most respected minds in wine and food sciences. </p> <p>The institute investigates the role of healthy and safe foods in one's quality of life. Its stated goal is to be a "global innovator in university-based wine and food sciences research, education and outreach."</p> <p>Renowned California wine producer Robert Mondavi donated $25 million to establish the institute in 2001.</p>
