Ever wonder what "Safeway" means? Back in 1920s Los Angeles, where the grocery chain first began to expand, there were dangers perceived in buying groceries on credit - cash was the only "safe way" to go. The name was then changed to reflect the company's concern for its customers. Of course, now all major credit cards are honored at this North Davis location. The warmly-lit store features sushi and olive bars, an organic aisle and an on-site Starbucks kiosk.
