Yeah I can't believe Dos coyotes and Murder Burger are not on the list. Great food at great prices.
Stacy Sheehan April 12, 2013 at 02:34 am
I agree there is nothing better than sitting outside on the patio at Bistro 33 with friends.
Stacy Sheehan April 12, 2013 at 02:29 am
Who made this list i can't believe Bistro 33, Cafe Bernardo, and Tres Hermanas Dos Coyotes, are notRead More on the list. Those are my favorite places to eat.

Ginger, you too should give Mocha Joe's a try. It is closer to you than the Target Shopping Center.Read More Shop at Nugget and get your java at MJ's.
Matt April 6, 2013 at 01:41 am

I thought Starbucks was better than this. Very disappointing. I will not be stopping at StarbucksRead More anymore. Wish you the best "Common Grounds"! Diane Whitcomb

I am regular at Common Grounds. I will not shop at a 'terrornomics' mall that has abandoned aRead More local business in order to sell their hard-earned success to a national brand coffeehouse. Worst of all the workers are thrown out of work with only a few days notice. Stringing along a local in order to work out leases with nationals is bad faith, anti-community policy, and revolting-development.

Shahryar Ahmad I am writing to protest the imminent closing of Common Grounds Coffee, my home awayRead More from home in South Davis. I am disappointed -- disgusted, actually -- that Regency Centers, a very large corporation, won't offer a new lease to Son Chong and his wife, Michelle Kim, to keep their successful mom-and-pop store in the Oakshade Town Center. The company's take-no-prisoners attitude jeopardizes the livelihood of the proprietors of an independently owned small business. I hope Regency Centers will reconsider its decision and start negotiating at this eleventh hour on a new lease for Common Grounds Coffee. Not only will this be a sound business move, it will earn Regency Centers the goodwill of a large segment of the Davis population. For many in our town, Common Grounds has been a destination coffee shop for more than a dozen years. The shop, under Mr. Chong and Ms. Kim, has attracted a very diverse group of loyal customers -- neighborhood residents; business executives; and UC Davis students, educators and administrators. I hope Regency Centers will give Mr. Chong and Ms. Kim the opportunity to keep Common Grounds Coffee in operation at the Oakshade Town Center for many, many years.

It's coporate capitalism great? Why compete when you can use your wealth to take out yourRead More competitor?
Eric Gelber March 30, 2013 at 03:42 pm
Don't you just hate it when you have to go more than 300 feet to get from one Starbucks to another?
Daiana Moqolaki May 7, 2013 at 08:49 pm
Before I use to go to Woodland or Vacaville or Sacramento,I am glad I just shop in Davis.VeryRead More convenient.I don't have to spent one whole day shopping going outside of Davis. Can't wait fo TJMAXX.
Mark Gold May 7, 2013 at 08:17 pm
The addition of Target to Davis was a welcome addition, however, I hope Davis doesn't allow too manyRead More more of the big box stores. Doing so would take away from the small town feel of the city. That's one of the charms of living there.
Bob May 7, 2013 at 05:19 pm
Awesome, I was part of this study! I was wondering when it would be published. But, yeah, I stillRead More shop downtown a ton! But for men's and children's clothing, bedding, some home goods, etc., the Target in Davis keeps me in Davis. Can't wait for the TJ Maxx, either!

Homeschool moms should qualify too! We don't have IDs..,
Lauren Gibbs (Editor) May 3, 2013 at 05:57 pm
Megan, according to a Chipotle rep, "the restaurant just needs some kind of proof that peopleRead More are school employees. So any kind of documentation, whether it’s an ID or a form showing the person’s name on the school roster along with a photo ID, should work fine." Hope that helps!
Megan May 3, 2013 at 02:09 pm
Teaching assistants at the university are educators, and yet our student IDs do not show thatRead More status. Any idea whether a proof of employment might work instead?
michelle cameron April 12, 2013 at 02:27 pm
KDVS is very entertaining and students who volunteer there learn a skill and its creative place.Read More Please support them. They also have the best news broadcasts. I listen to the sports hour on Tuesday at 7 pm. These students cover all the UC sports and they are really good at it. KDVS rocks.

Everyone is for proper disposal of waste. However, the way the settlement money was distributedRead More makes me wonder if this activity is really being done in the spirit of public good. The same group of DA's have sued and collected money from a string of other large stores (the ones with deep pockets) selling similar products (drugs and other toxic materials). The winnings always go back to the DA's own organizations to support their own bloated activities. At best this represents a conflict of interest. This practice reminds me of the gangs in SF Chinatown when they offer store owners safety in exchange for protection payments. So when gangs extort money from store owners that is against the law but when DA's do essentially the same thing that is "public good"?

I believe that the purpose of a service is to provide something of value, not just to employ peopleRead More in a task that can be easily accomplished by a piece of equipment or machinery. Riveting was replaced by welding, we don’t need buggy whip makers anymore because we use cars in lieu of horse drawn carriages and sheet rock and tape replaced the people who used to apply plaster in buildings. At one time perhaps a quarter to a third of our population was on the farm and they were replaced by machinery. It’s called progress.

What if the car is not regisrerid to me?

It's strange how the company says it will save money with all the money it is collecting by gettingRead More rid of few workers sometimes technology does not pay.
