Great- another alert system to make drivers slow down so they can read it- why don't they broadcastRead More it on the radio like with weather alerts.?
An\on July 24, 2014 at 11:06 am
????? So, when a hit and run occurs and someone calls police, they can't trace the car to it'sRead More owner? Even if it's stolen the chances of catching the individual before the car is ditched is slim. My other objection is the more "alerts" you put up the less people will pay attention to them. Do you think they'll be putting up alerts to remind us to bring home a loaf of bread?
gene smith July 24, 2014 at 11:20 am
Ms. White should pay a little more attention to the way things really are.....not just live in aRead More dreamland where things have no relationship to other things. The Politicians in Los Angeles are allowing it's destruction, and in many cases encouraging it. I have no idea why, but the facts of the matter speak clearly for the inaction we have to witness and pay for the consequences of. Check History. Hit and Run Accidents have increased dramatically...WHY? There are no consequences.

We moved back from Texas and promptly went in to the DMV and registered in CA. It has been 3Read More months, no plates, no registration, and no clue. So ya, please write down my info and turn me in. And then immediately go write about how inefficient our government spending is....
Daniel July 14, 2014 at 11:37 am
It's between the DMV and the vehicle owner and the business of nobody else. What if the tags wereRead More lifted off the vehicle? So the disgruntled neighbor cost the govt. $$ for the investigation. Is the Govt. so inept that they can't keep track of the vehicle owners with expired tags?
Roberto July 14, 2014 at 10:19 pm
I live in Lake Havasu, AZ. most of the year. When it gets too stinking hot in the summer, I move toRead More a small condo I keep in Davis. Both states insist I register my vehicle in their state. I chose Az. because it's half the cost of Ca, and because registering a vehicle there is about one tenth the hassle. The CA. DMV basically sucks! Thanks to the freakin 'Do Gooders' and Tattle Tales, I've been pulled over more times than I want to think about because I run Az. plates on my car. These idiots need to mind their own business!

But some Rose Bird bleeding-heart leftist judge will "give them a second chance". You elected the leftists who appointed them. I did not. My deepest sympathies for Mr. Stow and his family, sincerely.

Yep, just what I knew.... like the Butts fire - deliberately set....Sad, sick people.
Belle (Orchid Lady) July 9, 2014 at 09:41 am
The Butt's fire was reportedly started by landscaping equipment. I'm not sure I'd call thatRead More deliberate, unless there's more information that I am unaware of?
Belle (Orchid Lady) July 9, 2014 at 09:44 am
Just by looking at the map of the fire, doesn't it seem plausible that it was started by a cigaretteRead More but tossed out of a car? It seems, based on the map to have started near the road.

Interesting.. it's no longer "how to prevent" wildfires, but as mentioned above "howRead More to prepare" for them.... sick people - deliberately destroying the environment - it's called "pyroterror" - look it up. While not every wildfire is Al Queda, you can be certain that many are.. it's their new weapon... no doubt they are at least paying evil inclined, desperate people as well....

Morning all as of last nite info coming in now from yesterdays actvity- the fire made a major runRead More late thru out the day and fire fighter pilots had a really tough time trying to contain this fire in a box canyon. but sad to say it moved out of there,, the fire also ice capped this is when the fire at the ground gets so hot it creates its own wind and rises up in the air at a certain height and creates ice crystals at the top, you will see a huge huge plume of smoke.and then when the plume collasps and it does watch out as this will created extreme extreme fire behavior everyone on the ground and in the air has to pull back. the fire goes where it wants too and takes out anything in its path. due to that and the terain this is one really hard fire to get under control in just containment wise, fire was still burning to the SW as of yesterday afternoon but has since moved towards the north as of last nite. I am on scanner now waiting on updates from the command post on this fire. fire fighters are dealing very steep terrain, . { more info as i get it },
Rock Fan July 6, 2014 at 10:08 am
Thank you , appreciate the info . You just don't know how people can be so stupid to toss cigarettesRead More out of cars or let fireworks get away from them . We don't know what caused this one , but it's very bad .Just lucky more people weren't burned out . doesn't look like it was lightning , so probably some idiot is to blame . I hope they're proud of themselves . 1682 fire personnel .Over a hundred engines 9 helicopters 4 air tankers .How many millions of dollars to rectify some imbecile's recklessness .

I appreciate your comment Jeremiah and I don't think I could've said it better myself, so I won't beRead More redundant. Except to repeat only one thing-- This is why Mr Melhman: "the age limit is based on the medical risk profile that would endanger both the employee and the public he is tasked with serving. The likelihood of sudden debilitating circumstances increases with age and these jobs have a stress level which can precipitate it." I'm still of working age yet from day to day I have bizarre health issues pop up. I run abt 3-5 miles per day, 5-6 days a week. I'm in excellent health. I'm also clever and a bright individual. Yet I've begun having pains in places, and I'm also getting forgetful. My eyesight is decreasing. I get stressed easier than I used to. Because this is our natural human aging process. we age. we just do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, in reading this article, I didn't read, nor did I realize we were discussing being let go at a certain age. I thought we were talking about applying for the job, where can age limit is set due to medical and statistical averages. So I agree with you, I do not think a person should be let go the day they turn 62. Most others do also, that;s why we are offered pensions at particular ages for incentive. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lastly, your point using vote vs age limits is like comparing dogs to elephants, and completely irrelevant. We're talking about a person's capability to perform a certain type of job.

**** And I bet SouthernBelle knows something many women and men have forgotten - it's a whole lotRead More more fun acting out the roles when men act like men and women act like women and we all play the game and enjoy life as equal but thankfully different! **** Any good man who values his life knows women are superior to men and don't argue with them because even if you win, you lose!! :-) **** hahahahahahahahahaha!!! Yep, exactly how I feel. There are many many careers out there to choose from. Maybe a girl's passion is to put on 100 lbs of equipment and run up stairs to fight a fire and carry out a 250 lb man- but I'm guessing more aren't than are interested in that. But I'll tell you what, if my daddy's house catches fire and some gal runs up his stairs she best be able to carry him down because HIS life depends on it. And if she can't, then her taking a job she's unable to perform is just wrong.
southernbelle July 12, 2014 at 04:01 pm
one more thing--Mr Melhman, Not sure how long you've been in the area or if you are familiar with LARead More county hiring for Police and fire. But over the past 10 yrs they have had to lower their physical ability testing, as well as their hiring requirements because they had to account for women's physical abilities, and not enough men or women were passing the orals due to prior drug use (even trying it once counts), criminal records (DUI's fall in this), etc. This is also why the quality is lower than it used to be. We haven't seen nothing yet! It's abt to get a whole lot worse because no one wants police officer jobs anymore. so sad how we treat them!
