Thank you, Amy. I've also had a very hard time figuring out how to confront this issue. It isRead More difficult when it becomes apparent that it just isn't nonsense anymore, it's dangerous nonsense. People will literally die if the anti-vaxx crowd is successful at convincing people not to vaccinate their kids. Potentially a lot of people. When you combine that with the stupidity, outright lies and paranoia displayed by celebrity spokes-people like Jenny McCarthy it becomes really hard to maintain ones composure (oops, I just lost mine). I suppose it's best to treat everyone as one would treat a good friend who is skeptical of modern medicine and scared for their children. As far as the black helicopter people go, I'm not sure what can be done to convince them, since they invariably believe that any data not conforming to their beliefs must the due to a conspiracy of some kind. I've known a lot of publicly funded scientists over the years, and the idea that they could all somehow be conspiring to harm public health in order to enrich corporations is ludicrous and insulting. Part of the problem is that as a result of reasonable skepticism of expert opinion, many people have decided that there is no such thing. Or, even worse, they pick people who have zero expertise but who are good at manipulating their fears. So now we have a huge population of scientifically illiterate people who no longer trust doctors, but are willing to put all their faith in internet scam artists like the "Health Ranger". This can't end well.

Costco makes millions off of supplements. Flip through their monthly magazine. Every other page isRead More some supplement for which people have no need. Not only are we a nation of consumers, we are a nation of gullible consumers.

I received my case of measels in 1967 in the ARMY at Fort Sill, Oaklahoma. When they startedRead More offering for my children I chose the imunization for them and now Public Schools Require them in California. Home Schooling by anti-vaxx parents will be the first ones to catch the bugs from "out of state" or "out of country" (Like UC Berkley with 14,000 of them) anti-vaxx or could not get the Vaxx.. TB is on the rise from the "out of county" rich kids at our colleges also. TB was eradicated in the U.S. 30 years ago but now it is back and we no longer give imunizations for it.

It appears our current administration feels the average citizen cannot and should not be trusted.Read More The need to regulate things, ALL things, is very high on their priority list. I think we're going to see a whole lot more cameras and drones in our life. You have to wonder what they're afraid of. 'Freedom'? Wow! It's starting to sound like a nasty word.

Simple Question. Easy Answer. As long as Obama and his handlers are calling the shots, povertyRead More will continue to rise.

I feel that Media will try to discredit J.F.K. , as his murder's 50th anniversary draws near. MoreRead More and more blogs have posted President John F. Kennedy's last speech which CLEARLY exposes, let's just say it for what it is, Illuminati. Ironically, President Kennedy was murdered shortly after his speech... Again distracting citizens and removing a potential threat to their greater "plan".... And life goes on.... Unfortunately it won't be recognized by the citizens of the U.S until it's too late.

It's just plain wrong when our government demands that we have to sign up with a health programRead More against our will, and then fines us if we don't. The smart money says as Obamacare is pushed down our throats, it's going to get worse, much worse. After seeing this, I wouldn't sign up for or buy into any program this idiot endorses. So there!
Medical marijuana dispensaries potential in un-incorporated areas of Solano County.
Roberto November 7, 2013 at 11:06 am
Medical Marijuana should be able to be grown within the city limits and in fact, in any citizen'sRead More back yard. The anti-pot, anti everything people just need to get over it. I grow and harvest a couple plants every year, as do a couple neighbors. This issue is just another solution looking for a problem.

Sooner or later the folks that work for a living and pay for all of the 'free stuff', are going toRead More say enough is enough. Obama's socialism isn't working. Far too many people are taking advantage of all the 'free stuff.' There aren't that many people anymore that are paying for it and those that are paying , are paying far too much.

First the idiots attack prayers in school, then reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, hack away at 'InRead More God we Trust.' Then an attack on the Boy Scouts and now the Girl Scouts. It appears that a few jerks have some real issues with our traditional American values. They're far from perfect but thank God we have patriots like the Tea Party and others that fight to hold onto what made America Great.
Tom October 29, 2013 at 12:26 pm
Girl scouts are being attacked because the Tea Party hates women. They want women who are mereRead More vessels for more tea party clones instead of women who take ownership of their own bodies. For example, they expect women to die if their pregnancy requires it. From their perspective, a woman saving herself over her unborn child violates the very purpose God created women for, namely, to serve as incubation chambers for tea party fodder. The same goes for birth control. The Tea Party is against it because it means women choosing to use their body as they wish. Treating women like people is simply not in the Tea Party playbook.

@Roberto, the original version of the Pledge of Allegiance (dating back to 1892) read "OneRead More nation, indivisible". The Pledge was changed a few times between then an 1924, but were mostly minor changes though. The words 'under God' were added in 1954, and was heavily influenced by the Knights of Columbus (a Catholic organization). So, if you want to start talking about traditional American values then removing 'under God' is the "traditional" thing to do.
