All GATE was here in San Diego? Poway Unified to be specific? Piles of extra homework and extraRead More classes taught around uninspiring classes by even less inspiring teachers.

Homeschool moms should qualify too! We don't have IDs..,
Lauren Gibbs (Editor) May 3, 2013 at 05:57 pm
Megan, according to a Chipotle rep, "the restaurant just needs some kind of proof that peopleRead More are school employees. So any kind of documentation, whether it’s an ID or a form showing the person’s name on the school roster along with a photo ID, should work fine." Hope that helps!

Teaching assistants at the university are educators, and yet our student IDs do not show thatRead More status. Any idea whether a proof of employment might work instead?

Thank you Patch.com for your generous donation to the DJUSD what a difference this money will makeRead More to so many children and teachers!!

Thank you again, Kristy and Jim, for the gift to our schools and for years of joy during theRead More holidays. We'll miss Candy Cane Court! Ray Keck

"Well, I never ... no bovine privacy any more?"

KDVS is very entertaining and students who volunteer there learn a skill and its creative place.Read More Please support them. They also have the best news broadcasts. I listen to the sports hour on Tuesday at 7 pm. These students cover all the UC sports and they are really good at it. KDVS rocks.

I guess it's considered funny these days to get paid for breaking the law. Great education they'reRead More getting....

Nice, guys. My favorite lines: "We're so hot we'll burn your eyes/Or maybe that's just theRead More pepper spray."
Reality.. March 27, 2013 at 01:05 am
Maureen, there isn't any cyber bullying going on on the page. The DHS administration would haveRead More acted already, the faculty is aware of this page.
Maureen J. Bockrath March 26, 2013 at 04:44 pm
The page is back up. High School drama can ruin lives, cyber bullying is illegal and could causeRead More serious problems both to the bully and the bullied.
Roger Simmion March 26, 2013 at 01:44 pm
Breaking news... This seems like high school drama... Disappointed in the patch.

My expectation is both PAGE and Davis Excel will have supporters at the meeting. Also, although IRead More don't know who will speak at the meeting, the concern I heard from some at the GATE Advisory Committee meeting on Monday was not that folks did not want another study done simply because others have been done, but that another study was premature until the previous studies have been adequately reviewed. Perhaps there are some who don't want another study done at all, but I have not heard that from anyone in particular.

Bob, yep, we go every year. Wouldn't miss it. It's one of the huge, great things about living inRead More Davis. There will always be a few people getting out of hand. I believe they mentioned 31 citations and even fewer arrests, but my goodness, the attendance was estimated at 55,000. Not bad for an event this size. Can't wait for next year.
Bob April 20, 2013 at 11:28 pm
So did we! Had a great time with the family, I love Picnic Day. Were you here 2 or 3 years ago?
Roberto April 20, 2013 at 10:43 pm
Smashed windows, riots, fights, deaths, mayhem, drunkard irresponsible frat boy friends. Wow, Bob.Read More You must attend a different picnic day than I do. We rode our bikes downtown early, got some coffee, watched the great activities listened to some music, and totally enjoyed a beautiful spring day.
Jennifer Mason Wolfe April 10, 2013 at 05:10 pm
Thanks for the information - Davis teachers and parents are certainly working hard to ensure allRead More students are successful in our schools.
Bob Fry March 19, 2013 at 03:26 pm
Like Justin said. The wikipedia entry was done anonymously a few days ago and fixed in an hour:Read More http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=University_of_California,_Davis&diff=prev&oldid=543765439

The "taco" content is being pulled from the school's wikipedia entry. Although it has beenRead More removed from the Wikipedia page, it still exists in Google's cache.
Roberto March 12, 2013 at 01:01 am
I love Picnic Day. It's a ball. I've never seen 'a bunch of drunks' or some of the other 'horrible 'Read More things Davis PD reports. I'm sure there are some incidents. But Hey!, sign a pledge to be a good boy??? Yea right, like that's going to happen!
Kendra Hill March 9, 2013 at 03:50 pm
I simply don't go. It's just become a nightmare.
Robin Erbacher March 6, 2013 at 12:55 pm
LOL! Lectures become less boring if you listen and try to learn...

And apparently there is competition with a new student paper:Read More http://www.sacbee.com/2013/03/01/5227367/2-student-newspapers-go-toe-to.html

If the parents of these kids aren't financially very well off, meetings like this have to scare theRead More living hell out of them. Can you imagine a young Davis couple trying to run with the now huge and expensive aspirations of their kids, when they're not even sure they can handle the new water rates. Now they need a meeting for all the worried parents on exactly how they plan going to pay for this.
Roberto February 27, 2013 at 06:06 pm
Gina, I like the way you think.
Gina Em February 27, 2013 at 12:28 am
Don't retreat. Reload.
Gina Em February 27, 2013 at 12:26 am
Gee, I didn't know we got rid of drugs. Thanks for informing me. When my son comes home from highRead More school and tells me about the druggies that were selling dope in the bathroom, I will inform him that we don't have drugs since they are illegal.
Justin Cox (Editor) February 20, 2013 at 01:22 pm
I'm always quick to credit and link to the wiki, but in this case I had no idea a page existedRead More (although it makes sense that it does). All I did was search "Harlem Shake 'UC Davis'" on YouTube, and all the videos showed up on the first two pages. Not much hunting. I just added a link to the wiki, but not as source credit.
Megan February 20, 2013 at 02:45 am
Umm you should probably credit the DavisWiki for hunting all these down.
Roberto February 15, 2013 at 03:05 pm
Well said Scott. The problem with the Brady Campaign is they want to go after the lawful gun ownersRead More and those who could be a future lawful gun owners. Law abiding citizens will listen, criminals care less. Background checks don't work with most of the mentally ill. They may be fine one day, pass every exam, then totally flip out next week. We can attend all the anti-gun campaigns we want but a background check isn't going to catch these mental cases. Try to define Mental Health. You'll get 100 different answers. Also, the Brady Bunch sounds more than a little dangerous to the second amendment and doctor / patient privilege.
Scott Purves February 15, 2013 at 01:20 pm
I have 4 kids in school and want all of them safe. I'm very glad to see that Yolo Mental Health isRead More a co-sponsor, because that's where this discussion needs to go. Mental health issues, along with the awful violence in movies, TV and video games are a major part of this problem. New gun laws will not stop someone who thinks he's passing the next level in some video game, or who thinks he'll be the next TV star. The crazies are the problem, not the lawful gun owners.
MrsC February 15, 2013 at 12:43 pm
We must talk intelligently about mental illness and the extreme, ubiquitous violence in HollywoodRead More movies and the people who participate in them, whether it be the filmmakers or the consumers themselves.
