The Davis Police Department released the following note on Facebook Friday afternoon: "Over the last two weeks, we have received 6 reports of gasoline theft. The latest two were reported between May 14th and May 15th. 12 gallons were siphoned from a vehicle on San Thomas and an unknown amount of gasoline was taken from a van on County Road 32A. So far we have not noticed any patterns in locations or vehicles targeted." Do you know anything about these incidents in Davis? Is it possible you've been targeted?

The owner last saw the cat, "Soot Soot," as she left to take her children to school.
Yolo County Animal Services responded to a call on Wednesday regarding a cat that had been shot to death. This comes in the wake of a West Sacramento incident last week in which a living cat was set on fire. A $5,000 reward has been offered in that incident. Here’s a release from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office: Dr. Tucker, D.V.M advised Animal Services the owner had found her deceased cat "Soot Soot" lying in the alley behind the 600 block of College Street in Woodland. The owner last saw the cat alive about 8:00 a.m. as she left to take her children to school. The UC system must improve one thing if they want to avoid future violent confrontations with student protesters, according to a new report. That one thing is communications. An unknown male approached a 23-year-old female who was walking north on L Street at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, according to police. The suspect put his arms around the victim's waist, but she pulled away from him and ran to the other side of the street. Shortly after, the suspect approached her again, this time placing his hand up her skirt, police said in a statement. The female was able to get away, but so was the suspect, whom police say was last seen traveling north on L Street on a bike. Police arrested Devin Parsons, 19, and Luis Barajas, 22, both of Woodland.
Two vehicles that were engaged in a “reckless exhibition of speed” on April 15 have been identified by Davis Police, leading to two arrests. The hit-and-run took place in the intersection of Eureka Avenue and West 14th Street, according to Lt. Paul Doroshov, who told me the following in an email: 18 year old Louis Robertson was a passenger in the rear seat of one of those cars. Robertson fell out and onto the pavement. The second vehicle ran Robertson over and he suffered life-threatening injuries. Both drivers left the scene prior to police arrival. Robertson was rushed to the UCD Medical Center in Sacramento where he was stabilized and treated. He remains there to date and is recovering. Davis Police Officers initiated an investigation…

Dennis Martinez, 32, of Woodland pleaded no contest to first-degree burglary.
By Yolo County District Attorney's Office Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig announced that on Friday, April 27, 2012, 32-year-old Dennis Martinez of Woodland pled to three felony charges for his theft from an 88 year old disabled woman. The victim and her daughter had hired Martinez to do yard work over a three day period. On the third day, the elderly victim, who is legally blind, let Martinez in to use the restroom while her daughter was away. The victim later discovered that Martinez had stolen her late husband’s wallet and began using his credit cards at different locations. The Woodland Police Department investigated the case and recovered video of defendant and an accomplice using the credit card at multiple businesses. …

Yeah, I agree. My wife bought a Toyota hatchback two years ago and it doesn't have a locking cap. Seems so weird to me. I thought it was pretty much standard at this point.   more ›
