Community Corner

Mosaic Launch Party

On Saturday November 9th at 1:00 pm, the community is invited to Davis Community Church's

Fellowship Hall to attend a Mosaic Tea and Coffee "Launch Party" celebrating the start of the implementation phase of a plan to open DCC's non-profit Mosaic Tea and Coffee Shop.

Mosaic is a project that has been developed by a group of hard working individuals from DCC and the community. The DCC approved project is a plan to open a collaborative nonprofit, "pay-it-forward" Tea and Coffee Shop that will also provide job training for adults with disabilities and utilize DCC's Fellowship Hall to create a community gathering place that will have family friendly space as well as a venue for live music, art and theatre. Mosaic will also offer a time to connect with the spiritual, not church, but a space to talk about faith while warming up with a cup of tea. With it's "pay-it-forward' model, Mosaic plans to be the first spot in Davis to create a "Gift Economy" by allowing patrons to pay what they can and if you are able, pay a little more to be passed on to the next person creating an atmosphere of community and kindness.  The "Launch Party" (which will take place in the Fellowship Hall located on the D street side of DCC's 412 C Street campus) will be a chance to get in on the ground floor of an amazing opportunity to give back to the community by providing an opportunity to sign up for community based working groups. The event will feature live music provided by acoustic rock band Wealth of Nations along with some food and beverages.  Come join in on a fun gathering to celebrate the next steps and to consider volunteering and developing some new relationships in the process. Help to make the project a success. Mosaic Tea and Coffee, "Community, Conversation, Cause!"  To volunteer on line, please visit Mosaic's web site at HYPERLINK http://www.MosaicTea.com.
