ORIGINAL STORY: Davis Police are investigating a possible hate crime that took place over the weekend that left a gay man hospitalized with injuries to his head. They have a suspect in the crime, but the investigation continues.

Meanwhile the victim, 32-year-old Mikey Partida, spoke exclusively to News10 this week. He and his cousin, who was with him at the time, told the news outlet that the attacker definitely targeted him because of his sexual orientation.

They say he repeated a gay slur (that starts with the letter "F") over and over before the attack. Partida's cousin also said that from what she understands, the man knocked on the door and bragged about the attack afterward.

Partida has lived in Davis since first grade and graduated from Davis High School, according to the Enterprise. He felt safe from intolerance in town.
